Signing Up for MODO

It takes just minutes to sign-up for a MODOcms account. The easy 5-step registration process will have you and your website up and running in about 15 minutes.

Your MODOcms subscription must be paid with a valid credit card which will be charged when you complete the registration, so make sure you have your card handy before starting.

For your security, transactions completed through the MODO site are protected by 256-bit Secure Socket Layer encryption.

MODOcms SUBSCRIPTION FEES

MODO provides you with the flexibility of paying your subscription fee monthly or annually. If you choose the annual option, you’ll receive a discount equivalent to two free months.

Example:
MODO de-Luxe monthly subscription fee: $75 ($900 per year)
MODO de-Luxe annual subscription fee: $750 (You save $150!)

Follow the steps below to sign-up and register for your MODO account and website:

MODOcms will then guide you through the following five steps:

STEP 1

Choose a domain name. The domain name is what a visitor will type into their web browser address bar to reach your site. There are three options for registering a domain name for your MODO site:

Option 1
You can register a new domain (e.g. mysite.com) by typing it in the space provided at the top of the Sign up screen, selecting I want to register a domain, then clicking [Continue].
Modo will check to see if the domain is available and register it on your behalf as part of the set up process. If the domain name is available, you’re on to Step 2. If it’s not, you’ll need to try a different one.

Option 2
If you already own a domain name and want to use it for your MODOcms site, type it in the space provided at the top of the Sign up screen, select I own the domain, then click [Continue].

You will need to update your domain’s DNS servers to the following in order for it to work with your MODOcms site:

ns1.2eleven.ca
ns2.2eleven.ca

Option 3
You can register a MODOcms sub-domain by typing the name of your site (e.g. mysite) in the space provided at the top of the Sign up screen, selecting I would like MYSITE.mymodo.com (this is how your site name will appear in browser address bars), then clicking [Continue].

If you choose this option, you will not own the primary domain name. For example, if the name of your company is ABC Widgets, and you register your site as abcwidgets.mymodo.com, someone else could still register abcwidgets.com.

STEP 2

Select a MODOcms Package. You can choose between MODO Mini, De-Luxe or Custom. You can review the different package specifications here.

You can choose MODO Mini or De-Luxe by selecting a monthly or annual billing from the Billing Cycle drop-down menu, then clicking [Select].

Note: You'll receive two free months by choosing the annual billing option.

STEP 3

Select a MODOcms Theme. You can preview any of the available themes by clicking on the thumbnail images. Select a theme for your website by clicking [Select] beneath it.

Once your website is set up, you can switch themes anytime you want by selecting Preferences.

Many themes are available and the list of new styles is growing.

STEP 4

Account & Payment Information. Complete all the required fields in the Personal Information, Account Information and Credit Card Information sections (MODOcms subscriptions require a valid credit card).
You'll need to agree to the Terms of Service at the bottom of the page by checking the box next to I have read and agree with the Modo Terms of Service.

Click [Continue].

STEP 5

Confirm Order. The last registration screen will give you a chance to review all of your order and set up information before confirming and submitting your payment.

Please review everything carefully. You can make changes to your registration information by clicking the [Edit] button next next to the relevant section.

Click [Confirm]. This will finalize your order, charge your credit card with the subscription fee and create your MODOcms account.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Account Set-Up Process:

  1. Once your MODOcms order and registration information is received, you'll receive a confirmation email to let you know your account is being set up.
  2. You'll receive a second email when your account and website set up is complete. This email will re-confirm all of your account details as well as how to log into your website's administration area.
  3. Your new website is now ready for you to customize. In some cases, it may take 24-48 hours before you can access your primary domain. However, the email will provide you with a link to access your site via a temporary sub-domain.
